1. The idea for Ghosted MD was sparked by a spooky, real-life experience.
Author, actress, and producer Nafsika Antypas was inspired during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Early one morning, she was suddenly awakened by an unseen voice softly saying, “Hey” in her ear. While she was freaked out by the moment, it immediately ignited her imagination. She ran to grab a pen and paper, and the entire story began flowing naturally from there.
2. Stacey's humor is based on Nafsika's real personality.
Her sarcastic, quick-witted inner monologue is very much her on the page.
3. The supernatural elements were influenced by real research.
Nafsika spent months reading about near-death experiences, energy fields, and unexplained medical cases to ground the paranormal elements in something that felt real.
4. The book was originally written as a TV series.
Ghosted MD was envisioned as a screenplay concept, which was actually filmed as a TV pilot in NYC — and which is why the pacing feels so cinematic.
5. The series has a full soundtrack.
Music is a huge part of her creative process, and several songs in the Ghosted MD playlist were written and performed by Nafsika.
6. The cat, Fluffy is named after her childhood cat, who was also an orange tabby cat.
7. The jogging scene was born during a real run.
While out on an early morning jog, Nafsika suddenly visualized the entire scene — the rhythm of footsteps, the pulse of the city, and Stacey's racing thoughts. The moment felt so vivid that she stopped mid-stride to jot it down on her phone notes, later weaving it seamlessly into Ghosted MD: The Awakening.
